Saturday 9:00 – 11:30 am Dance of Universal Peace: web info: Joanne and Richard Sales
The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, joyous, multi-cultural circle dances that use sacred phrases, chants, music, and movements from the many traditions of the earth to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and others. Based on the work begun in the late ’60s by Samuel L. Lewis, they promote peace and integration within individuals and groups worldwide. There are no performers nor audience – new arrivals and old hands form the circle together. And, no prior experience is necessary!
The dances have been used as a tool in many spiritual communities, citizen diplomacy, therapeutic and educational settings. Through the efforts of the International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace, the dances have an increasingly global community and continue to expand in both scope and quality. Joyful, uplifting and unifying. No experience is necessary – just an open heart and mind.

1:30 – 4:00  Ancient Sacred Circle Dance:  presentation and movement: Laura Shannon
an illustrated talk on the Ancient History of Sacred Dance, followed by an experiential session of Women’s Ritual Dances of Greece and the Balkans. These dances, which I have researched myself in the villages over the past 3 decades, are ancient traditional circle dances which have roots in the Neolithic period, going back up to 10,000 years. They honour the Divine Mother in her earliest names and forms, and they are still living ritual dances in the present-day Christian tradition.
