Join cellist Allannah Dow and pianist Leah Hokanson for a lovely hour of poetry, music and reflection. The experience of this event is grounding and leaves one with a feeling of calm and peacefulness. Each musician reads their chosen poem, then the two play improvised music on the theme which may include interactive chanting and singing, then there are a few moments of silence to absorb the nuances of the passage and music. Admission is by donation and supports the musicians and the Bethlehem Centre. You may make your donation at the door or you may also choose to register and make a donation in advance by using the form below.
Carmina Gadelica is a compendium of prayers, hymns, charms, incantations, blessings, literary-folkloric poems and songs, proverbs, lexical items, historical anecdotes, natural history observations, and miscellaneous lore gathered in the Gaelic-speaking regions of Scotland between 1860 and 1909. The material was recorded, translated, and reworked by the exciseman and folklorist Alexander Carmichael (1832–1912). – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmina_Gadelica
