6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Weekly 2-hour sessions, for 8 weeks, starting Wednesday, March 3, 2021
Would you like to reduce the impact of stress in your daily life?
This program is an 8-week psycho-educational group intervention based on the evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Mindful Living is designed to guide participants through thorough mindfulness training to help them learn to manage stress, anxiety, pain, and other challenges, in order to engage in present-moment awareness. This allows participants to develop the capacity to cultivate new relationships with their experience. The goal of the program is to support cultivation of curiosity, kindness, and patience and to facilitate sustainable changes in health attitudes and lifestyle behaviours. Participants will learn how to:
- Practice mindfulness and to be present with their experience.
- Support the integration of learning into daily lives
- Support the formation of healthy habits and ongoing mindfulness practice
Emily Bennett completed her Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Intensive Teacher Training in 2019 and is eager to bring MBSR to the community and support the integration of mindful living. Emily practices clinically as an Occupational Therapist in Nanaimo and throughout Vancouver Island. Prior to moving to the island in 2019, she was practicing in the public sector in rural and remote regions in Northern British Columbia. Emily integrates mindfulness into her practice with a trauma-informed lens and a focus on supporting quality of life and well-being. Emily is passionate about health promotion and quality of life, mental health and wellness, community integration, and providing holistic and evidence-based care.
