Christian, Men's Retreat

The theme for this weekend is HOPE. We are in the midst of difficult days as we note growing division and conflict in our world. The reality of climate change forces us to consider the hope we have for our future generations. And what of us: What is the basis of our hope as we face the future? What do we say to those who have given up hope? Also, we are coming together the week before Advent and the theme of that season is “Hope”. Moving from ‘faint hope’ to a ‘living hope’ will be the challenge and opportunity that we shall share together.

I look forward to leading this quest ~ Glenn Inglis.

About Rev. Glenn Inglis:

Rev. Glenn Inglis is a Presbyterian minister who has extensive experience in ministry both in Africa and Canada. Glenn has been a CUSO volunteer in Nigeria and, after ordination, was a mission partner in Malawi for 16 years. In Malawi, he served as a parish minister, developed and led a programme on democracy and human rights and, finally, was Director of the Blantyre Synod health and development commission. Glenn has also served congregations in Nanaimo, Langley and Vancouver with special attention to preaching, leadership and training.

Over 25 years ago, Glenn met Rev. Elly Bradley, a United Church minister and former Professor at the Vancouver School of Theology.  Elly had transitioned from academia to spiritual direction and also became a mentor and guide in Ignatian spiritual practice. Glenn has followed that practice and now is a spiritual director who shares accountability through a network of directors in the greater Vancouver area. In 2017 Glenn completed his 40-day retreat at the Ignatian Centre in Guelph, ON.

Elly Bradley has a special passion for men’s spiritual growth and led many retreats over the years, a large number of them at the Bethlehem Centre. Elly has now retired and has handed the torch on to Glenn.

The November retreat will feature community times with a focus on our theme of hope; small group sharing; singing; and times for meditative prayer and opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Centre’s grounds and access to Westwood Lake. We will close with Eucharist and lunch on Sunday, November 24th.

You are encouraged to arrive on Friday afternoon, get settled, join together for dinner and the programme begins at 7 pm on the 22nd.

Please feel free to invite your friends.
