Join vocalist, conductor and composer, Leah Hokanson for a community gathering of ecstatic chanting, which blend the wisdom and inspiration of ecstatic poetry (Rumi, Hafiz, Hildegard of Bingen, Whitman, Kabir and others), with the eclectic groove and tunefulness of popular music – including jazz, R&B, pop ballad, funk and world music. Their universal messages of love, peace and belonging inspire joy and connection. Come and sing your heart out!
 
Leah Hokanson is a well known choral director, composer, singer/songwriter, and vocal sound explorer based on Gabriola Island, BC. She directs Gabriola’s Song Keepers Women’s Choir, the Life Journey Singers, and is Music Director at the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo. Leah facilitates vocal sounding workshops that explore the voice as a vehicle for healing and transformation. In the last two years, she has released two albums: one of original songs (Facets) and one of original chants (Diamond Chants: The Heart).
