We are Nanaimo’s Hospitality Operator 2019!

We are Nanaimo’s Hospitality Operator 2019!

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Bethlehem Centre is the winner of the Hospitality Operator Award for 2019, presented at the Nanaimo Business Awards last night at the Port Theatre. President, Gerry Herkel and Executive Director, Kathleen Darby accepted the award which is given to “any hotel, motel, campground or bed and breakfast that provides exemplary service to Nanaimo visitors. This operator offers ‘best-in-class’ hospitality, boasts amazing testimonials, and has a proven track record of providing exceptional service and facilities.”

The Centre was up against some strong competition in the list of finalists, and we accept the award knowing that we all strive to make this City great! The Bethlehem Centre would like to thank the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce and you, the voters, for honouring us! We are thrilled to receive this award! Thank you also to the sponsor of the award – Chemistry and GT Hiring Solutions – and to our fantastic staff, wonderful board members, as well as our great city, island and global community. We couldn’t have won without your support. We look forward to seeing you soon at the Bethlehem Centre! ** Board and Staff Members at the Awards

New Owners: Friends of the Bethlehem Retreat Centre Society

Dear Friends,
The Benedictine Sisters of the House of Bread Monastery, Nanaimo, and the Friends of the Bethlehem Retreat Centre Society are pleased to announce the transfer of the business of the Bethlehem Retreat Centre to the new owners, the Friends of the Bethlehem Retreat Centre Society, effective July 15, 2015.

For twenty-eight years the Benedictine Sisters have ministered to thousands of people through the Bethlehem Retreat Centre. The Sisters are happy to have the Centre continue and its operation by the Friends of Bethlehem Retreat Centre will provide a stable long-term opportunity to offer and expand the enriching programs and retreats for which Bethlehem Is known.

We thank all who have given their support in time, volunteer hours and finances to make it possible for this transition to happen.

The Society has many tasks in the coming weeks and many motivated and excited volunteers.

Thank you to all who continue to give your energies to this important endeavor. We will keep you updated on coming programs and happenings.
